Sammy Taylor was a husband, father and friend that believed in supporting the youth of his community.  Sammy spent more than 30 years working to encourage and ensure the success of students involved in FFA & 4H throughout the East Montgomery County area. Sammy was an active member of his community and loved by many. After his sudden passing in January of 2010 his friends and family came together to create the scholarship to not only honor the man he was, but also allow his legacy to live on.

The Sammy Taylor Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by a group of Mr. Taylor’s family members and close friends in 2010 when he passed away unexpectedly. This group unanimously expressed interest in keeping alive his tradition of supporting local FFA/4-H youth of East Montgomery County.  This non- profit organization of volunteers, with the continuous support of the community, award scholarships to qualifying FFA/4-H  graduating seniors  of the New Caney  and Splendora School Districts and support the youth of this community at the annual EMC Fair and Rodeo.  STMS holds a Sporting Clay Shoot annually to raise funds to support these efforts. As of 2019, STMS has awarded 72 Scholarships totaling $334,500.00 given $87,000 in support to youth participating in the EMCF in the past 10 years total $421,500.00. We are very grateful to our supporters and participants in these events who believe in providing a path for success for our kids through achievements, leadership and education.
